“This tragedy and all of this is completely out of proportion to what has happened in other places, the number of deaths in other places, the number of injuries,” Aquino said, adding that this kind of violence should not be allowed to happen in the Philippines.

The tragedy left eight people dead and more than 100 injured in the town. At least 60 were hospitalized, including 13 children under three years old, the AFP reported.
